In 1991 Karmo and Jerry Sanders collaborated with Steve Underwood on Spellbound, an original musical for young people produced at the Brunswick Theater Project, in Brunswick, Maine. Spellbound was awarded a grant from the Kellogg Foundation for touring.

In 1995 the team co-wrote, produced, and acted in an original musical Radical Radio, opening Off-Off Broadway in 1995 at the 91st Street Theatre, New York, NY. The show toured the East Coast for four years. The team created a cast recording of the musical which they sold on tour.

Karmo Sanders:

Karmo SandersAfter studying with Maria Irene Fornés, Karmo pursued her career at Boston University majoring in playwrighting at the Boston Playwrights' Theater under Nobel Prize Winner Derek Walcott and Artistic Director, Kate Snodgrass. She graduated in 2001 with a Masters Degree in Creative Writing.

Her full-length comedy, Humpin' Glory Bay, was produced by the Boston Playwrights' Theatre in 2000. Larry Bull earned an Irne Award Nomination for his portrayal of the lead character.

Her ten minute play Nesting was published by Smith & Kraus in the Boston Theatre Marathon XI 2009 Anthology.

In 2011 Karmo was a collaborative writer and solo actress in a short film by Sharyn Paul Brusie. The film Face It previewed at the Vancouver and Sarasota Film Festivals.

In 2012 her play Homer was a finalist in the McLaren Comedy Festival.

Well known in Maine for her television commercials, Karmo has spent the last six years touring her one woman stand up comedy show - "Birdie Googins, Accidentally Maine's Only Supermodel and Un-Registered Maine Guide" while pursuing her career as a playwright. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild

Jerry Sanders:

Jerry Sanders Jerry began his musical career in Oklahoma as a rock and roll drummer in garage bands with his best friend, Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame. Jerry was also a talented dancer and discovered his penchant for mime after studying with Tony Montanaro in South Paris, Maine. He worked for many years as host for the Portland Symphony Orchestra Kinderkonzert Series, combining original mime sketches with symphonic instruments for schoolchildren. Each year featured four new programs and with a total of eighty performances a year for eight consecutive years.

His theatre series: Make a Little More Noise was commissioned by the Portland Concert Association of Portland, Maine. An original score and choreography emphasized the importance of performing arts in education. This show toured statewide for two years. A gifted dancer, Jerry also performed with Esduardo Marical’s dance troupe.

Education:

With a Masters Degree in Counseling Jerry worked professionally as counselor and in the healing arts.

University of Southern Maine: B.A. Theater Arts. Obtained Masters of Education in counseling with emphasis on psychodrama.

Both Karmo and Jerry obtained their undergraduate degrees as Theater Majors, working in musical theater and drama.
